Radici storiche e processi sociali dell’esclusione dei Rom
abstract
The article analyses in a historical perspective the material conditions of Roma in Eu- rope and the roots of their exclusion, highlighting the process that reduced them to the condition of underclass-population. The policies of many European states have actively contributed to this process, pursuing in a first phase a real ethnocide of these populations and then focusing on their criminalization. In this framework the ethnicization of the «Roma issue» has masked in the last years a broader attack against migrants and the poorest strata.
