Sulle edizioni delle Stanze e dell’Orfeo di Poliziano nel Settecento veneto

Abstract

Angelo Poliziano’s Stanze per la giostra del magnifico Giuliano (Rooms for the Carousel of the Magnificent Giuliano) are the object of prolonged attention in the cultural circles of the 18th century Veneto, from Arcadia to Neoclassicism. This is confirmed by the fact that no less than eight of the twelve editions that appeared in Italy in the same century were produced in this area. The reasons for this fortune are to be found in the assonance of the octaves of the Poles with the elegiac rhythm and the naturalistic glimpses typical of Arcadian poetry, which also found in them a linguistic example to be taken as a model. Finally, the Veneto prints examined here stand out for the philological accuracy of which the various editors give proof by examining and comparing the prestigious 16th-century specimens.
