La prospettiva biopsicosociale nella rappresentazione dei medici di medicina generale di Roma
abstract
Nowadays, the opportunity to use the bio-psycho-social model in the primary care (PC) practice has been enhanced. According to literature, 84% of the ailments do not have an organic etiology and are often related to psychosocial problems (marital con ict, grief, etc.). The aim of the research is to explore the PC practitioners’ perception of the bio-psycho-social model and the way it sets their professional practice. In order to actualize this investigation, it was set a purposive sample of PC practitioners of the NHS (National Health Service) of Rome (no. 29), who have been subjected to an open-question interview. The transcriptions undergo a text analysis to identify factors and clusters revealing participants’ perception. The ndings show how participants follow the diagnosis and treatment logic and assign minor relevance to the psychosocial aspects, at the most referring the chronic or psychiatric patient to a specialist. A change in the medical training program conveys the impression of being a useful strategy to promote the bio-psycho-social model.
