Abstract
This study presents a typological proposal of bridle and bit portrayed on horses by Situla art, a corpus of about 170 figured bronze works produced between 650 and 270 BC – with a main focus between 650 and 450 BC – and found in about 50 sites located in the Upper Adriatic basin. The first main fact that emerges from the typological classification is that the images, although very realistic as always happens in Situla art, present a much flatter panorama than the archaeological record.
