Abstract
This paper aims to critique a historiography of science that sees Greek science as exemplary. It discusses the entry of Babylonian astronomy into the history of science and defines the cuneiform scribal-scholarly knowledge termed ṭupšarrūtu as a basis for understanding the scope and character of cuneiform science without comparison to Greek or later sciences.
