Abstract

The excavations conducted by the University for Foreigners of Siena in the sanctuary of thermal waters at San Casciano dei Bagni have yielded many bronze objects with inscriptions in Etruscan and Latin. Four of the five Etruscan inscriptions preserve dedications to a deity first identified as the ‘Spirit of the Spring’, but later, following the discovery of an Etruscan-Latin bilingual, correctly recognized as ‘the Hot Spring’. The article also discusses the other important lexical information conveyed by the objects inscribed in Etruscan.
