Abstract

The text examines the urban and touristic evolution of Jesolo, a seaside city on the Adriatic coast, as a lens on the transformation of Italy’s coastal landscape since the postwar era. It traces the shift from marine colonies and company resorts to mass tourism and recent redevelopment projects, revealing the tension between urban growth, environmental protection, and architectural quality. Emphasis is placed on landscape policy, the use of sustainable materials and vegetation, and the creation of an integrated green system. The Landscape Commission is proposed as a proactive platform for dialogue among designers, citizens, and institutions. Through case studies and best practices, Jesolo emerges as a contemporary laboratory where local identity, innovation, and sustainability converge in a new model of coastal urbanism.
