Abstract
This paper will focus on children’s magazines published by insurgents against Spanish Republic during Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The research focuses on children’s press edited by the Falange Española of the JONS and, from 1937, by the Falange Española Tradicionalista and of the JONS, the new totalitarian party created by General Franco. The paper opens with an analysis of the editorial fact through all the exemplars of children’s Falangist press appeared until 1939 in the context of military, political and economic war events with a special reference to juridical documents enacted by new political regime. The results show that with the military facts an intense ‘paper and propaganda war’ developed in a very successful way in addressing to children who were instructed in the insurgents’ ideological project. For that constant orders’ and political slogans’ repetitions were utilized to attack the republican enemy that was demonized with the generic word rojos and at the same time insurgents were glorified and General Franco considered as the ‘country rescuer’.
