Capitolo | La rappresentazione linguistica del genere nei chatbot di lingua italiana: uno studio esplorativo
Abstract
As chatbots become increasingly integrated into our lives, questions arise about their role in reinforcing gender stereotypes. Through a corpus-based analysis of the messages generated by 68 chatbots operating in the customer service domain, the present study aims to investigate through which linguistic signs gender is codified in chatbots’ messages in Italian – rarely studied in the field of Human-Machine Interaction – and it seeks to unveil potential gender asymmetries in chatbot design, thus contributing to the discourse on gender representation in technologies and on its real-life implications.
