Abstract
As a voracious comics reader since his childhood, spent in a catholic and francoist Spain, Jesús Franco has always been a fortified supporter of the equal artistic dignity between comic language and literature. Comic is, together with music (above all jazz) and erotism, one of the cornerstone, from the end of the fifties to his death (2nd April 2013), around which he developed an eccentric, anarchic, incorrect, frenetic, overflowing cinema (more than 180 titles; a number which is more in keeping with a comics series than with an orthodox filmography). This paper investigates the sense of this passion and the narrative and iconographic results of this practice.
