Edizioni Ca’ Foscari (ECF) is the open access digital University Press of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
ECF publishes open access journals and books in digital format in all areas of academic research, with a particular vocation for the disciplines of the eight departments into which the University is divided.
The aim of ECF is to promote the dissemination of the results of research carried out both in Ca’ Foscari and in the national and international scientific community, especially where these two contexts come into contact.
All publications are made available online in full text and free of charge, with the aim of fostering and nurturing free access to knowledge and knowledge sharing.
The texts only reach publication after a rigorous process of content selection and evaluation by the ECF Editorial board and the Advisory board of each journal or series, which assess their quality. They are then subjected to careful editorial care and are processed for indexing in major international online databases.

Edizioni Ca’ Foscari carries out its activity in the field of scientific and academic publishing adopting the Open Access principles and following both the ‘Diamond’ and the ‘Gold’ roads, which ensure the direct and immediate accessibility of the published contents.
Edizioni Ca’ Foscari adopts a method that provides:
Each journal or volume, and the individual contributions within them, are published in a PDF format that is freely consultable and downloadable. Some publications are availabile also in HTML version.
Our goal is to promote the dissemination of scientific research for the benefit of all national and international universities or research institutions.
Many of the titles in our series (monographs and edited books) are also published in a printed edition, both at the direct request of interested readers (print-on-demand), and for commercial distribution in bookshops and online bookstores. In addition, the e-commerce channel makes it even faster to purchase our paper versions, which are periodically selected and updaetd. The two media, paper and digital, are allied and complementary.
Why choose Open Access publishing?
Our editorial production model organically integrates in a single proprietary platform, ECFPeerflow, the processes of:
The aims of these processes are:
These results produce benefits for the authors and the institutions in which they operate: in addition to having produced scientifically valid and quality publications, they also benefit from the visibility and transmissibility guaranteed by the practices of Open Access.
The editorial flow provides for pre-established steps and roles, which involves ECF, the Journals’/Series’ Editors-in-Chief, the Authors and the Reviewers. The research groups work on the creation of the contents and the publishing house supports the various steps, up to the final production and publication. To know more
Open Access breaks down all barriers, not only economic and legal, but also geographical: it allows you to create a network of unlimited international relations that involves all members of the various scientific communities, such as authors and peer reviewers, both in the creation phase of the contents and in the fruition phase, everywhere and in real time.
