Zaguanes, iberismos, alegorías
abstract
Using some of elements of Gérard Genette’s definition of thresholds (seuils), I will analyze several aspects in different editions of José Saramago’s A jangada de pedra (1986) and their Spanish translations (La balsa de piedra). The consideration of editorial designs such as covers and external texts linked to the literary nucleus, allows the comparison with Alejo Carpentier’s Concierto barroco (1974), and the cinematographic transposition directed by George Sluizer (La balsa de piedra, 2002), leading to a reflection upon certain notions related to iberism and its derivations (trans-ibericidade) together with the study of allegorical discourse.
