Capitolo | Indagare un’antica periferia. Ricerche archeologiche a Musile di Piave
Abstract
Musile di Piave, near the Venice lagoon, belonged to the Roman town of Altino. This landscape had an articulated communication system, consisting of land and water routes in relation with the main road via Annia. Towards the end of 1900s surveys revealed many archaeological evidences, such as the significant discoveries of a bridge, a cistern and a rural villa dating to the Roman era. The Superintendency has started new investigations from 2022 to protect cultural heritage and to enrich the knowledge of peripheral area in the past, apparently less monumental but strictly connected with the commercial and productive role of the city.
