Abstract
Mainland China and Taiwan divided more than 60 years ago. The results of his field research on the Mandarin spoken in Peking and Taibei are summarised, focusing on some differences in the components of grammar, especially the lexicon. It can be thus stated, that at the moment two varieties of Standard Mandarin exist.
