Edited book | «L’umanesimo della parola»
Chapter | «Et aspecto e libri con sommo desiderio»
Abstract
The essay aims to investigate Angelo Poliziano's passion for books as artifacts and sentimental objects. Three particular instances are analyzed for this purpose, covering very different events, but united by a punctilious and passionate attention to books, as objects of study but also, always, as charged with an affective and personal surplus. These three occasions also allow us to illuminate Poliziano’s relations with the Medici circle and the Florentine and Venetian intellectual world involved in his book hunts.
