Chapter | 3 • Metageografia apocalittica
Abstract
Chapter 3 explores the impact of apocalyptic narratives on the perception and building of a geographic world-view. It examines how apocalyptic imagery shaped world maps through an ‘apocalyptic metageography’. This concept blends real and symbolic geographic elements, offering insights into how conflicts were perceived in these societies. These concept is relevant today given the reinterpretation of these traditions by contemporary fundamentalists.
