Abstract
This study starts moving from an article by Silvio Giuseppe Mercati on the presence of Venice in modern Greek poetry and focuses on the poetic production of the island of Crete during the Venetocracy. Specifically, it analyses the <i>Διήγησις τῆς φουμιστῆς Βενετίας</i> (<i>Tale of the Famous Venice</i>), highlighting some compositional and stylistic aspects of the work. The full text and its translation are also in the appendix.
