Abstract

This article is structured around the novel Hablar solos by Andrés Neuman. In it, a man in a terminal state, his son, and his wife each express their experiences in this extreme family situation. As an introduction, the importance of Freud’s and Lacan’s studies in art is discussed. Hablar solos is a novel composed of three monologues by the corresponding family members who express their anguish in the face of one of their members’ inevitable death. Each monologue is analyzed within the context of the relevant bibliography.
