Abstract

This study examines a recently rediscovered mural on the façade of a palace on the Riva del Ferro in Venice. Eighteenth-century views by Canaletto and Marieschi document its original appearance, showing three figures: Peace burning arms, a central nude, and Fame with trumpets, inspired by Tuscan Mannerism. Conservation work revealed notable pigments: green earth in the dark bluish background, a rare coal-based black, and lead-tin yellow type II, both unusual in sixteenth-century Venetian wall paintings.
