La responsabilità istituzionale della violenza di genere contro le donne
Abstract
The feminist slogan ‘The personal is political’ highlighted the need to see gender-based violence not only as an individual issue but also as an institutional one. Historically, state institutions permitted and even justified violence against women, reflecting entrenched power. Despite more awareness, debate often stays within a victim-perpetrator frame, obscuring systemic causes and reinforcing stereotypes. In international law, due diligence requires states to address such violations. This paper defines institutional violence, applies an intersectional lens, and explores how due diligence can help create a more just and inclusive response.
