Abstract

Considering the emerging role of hydrogen within the energy transition in the European and national context, the article highlights how institutional attention towards this vector may actually exacerbate pre-existing territorial divides. The discussion develops around the concept of hydrogen-led energyscapes, energyscapes shaped by the diffusion of hydrogen-related technologies and infrastructure, and the relationship between these and institutional socio-technical imaginaries, namely the political and social visions that guide decisions regarding these materializations, potentially influencing the worsening of infrastructural disparities and broader territorial divides.
