Une collection d’apophtegmes au Monastère Sainte-Catherine du Sinaï dans le codex M58N + M59N + CPA Sp 5 + CPA Sp 14 :
Apports et intérêt du manuscrit
Abstract
The manuscripts M58N, M59N, Sp 5 and Sp 14 from the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai form the dismantled remains of a palimpsest manuscript in Christian Palestinian Aramaic. This manuscript requires a complete restoration so that all the pages can be read, both in the upper and the lower texts. After a codicological description, the paper presents the collection of Apophtegms of the Fathers contained in the upper text. This collection not only extends the Christian Palestinian Aramaic vocabulary by providing new words or forms not yet attested, but also allows us to correct erroneous readings of certain words in other manuscripts. A study of the structure of this collection of apophtegms and a detailed comparison with the known Greek versions allows us to improve the edited Greek text of certain apophtegms, but also to link our collection to a part of the textual tradition known as the ‘Sabaïte-type collection’.
