La datation et le message du monnayage de Brutus et de Cassius (43-42 av. J.-C.)
Abstract
The objective of this study is to re-examine the dating and the discourse of the coinage of Brutus and Cassius, produced to remunerate their support between 43 and 42 during the war against the heirs of Caesar. The reconsideration of the title of imperator in the legends and the technical examination of the RRC 500 and 505 series have made it possible to specify the relative and absolute chronology of these issues. In addition, the die study of the entire coinage yielded results that made it possible to quantify the dies needed for the minting. It was thus possible to estimate the frequency of each monetary type and thus to highlight the central themes of the legitimating discourse of Brutus and Cassius.
