dc.description.abstract	The present study aims to examine the institution of «punitive damages» in the Italian legal system. A part of it is devoted to the recent judgment of the Supreme Court on the award of damages. Another section is devoted to the illustration below practical cases in which the institution of punitive damages has been applied. And finally the concluding remarks, together with the above elements, want to allow the reader to reflect on whether and any possibility that this institution can be justified even within our system.

abstract

The present study aims to examine the institution of «punitive damages» in the Italian legal system. A part of it is devoted to the recent judgment of the Supreme Court on the award of damages. Another section is devoted to the illustration below practical cases in which the institution of punitive damages has been applied. And finally the concluding remarks, together with the above elements, want to allow the reader to reflect on whether and any possibility that this institution can be justified even within our system.
