Abstract
The protagonist narrator of João Gilberto Noll, a contemporary Brazilian writer, is an itinerant individual whose condition is emphasized when he moves out of his country, as we may perceive in his novels Lorde and Berkeley em Bellagio, which focus on the protagonist as he travels abroad. Noll’s de-territorialized character in constant movement is a fragmented individual who adopts other identities that are beyond even his own grasp. Attempting to unify his scattered identity, he is surrounded by multiple images in permanent construction.
