Abstract
This paper aims at showing how some phrases, in classical as well as in modern languages, which are found in ancient Greek and Latin inscriptions as well as literary epigrams, present a considerable continuity until our time. This can be particularly appreciated by using a digital search tool recently developed: the Memorata poetis thematic search engine. In this respect, a case study is investigated, pivoting on the ‘Time’ theme, and diachronic intertextual search outputs are offered. All results are accompanied by short comments, relying on the consistency of a widespread poetic memory including texts up to Proust, Montale, through Shakespeare and others. Their number may be considerably improved by the implementation of the Memorata poetis search engine.
