Les territoires balkaniques dans les discours politiques et historiographiques depuis l’Antiquité : l’identité des « Macédoniens » au prisme de la comparaison thrace
Abstract
Political and historiographical narratives surrounding Macedonia and Thrace have, since Antiquity, produced competing identities and sustained enduring controversies. This article argues that these Balkan territories have largely been interpreted through anachronistic identity frameworks, deeply shaped by colonial and nationalist paradigms, which have obscured the social and political organisation of the populations that inhabited them. By reassessing the available evidence, the study highlights the existence of multiple and overlapping forms of sovereignty, revealing, behind the alleged model of the state, hegemonic networks of military alliances and fragmented forms of political integration.
