Spinoza et le langage comme pratique
Abstract
Spinoza develops an implicit theory of language as social practice rather than as a system of signs. Through a reading of the Theological-Political Treatise and the Ethics, on can show that meanings arise from embodied habits (consuetudo), vary according to social functions, and are transformed by philosophical practice itself. Language thus appears as an institution that makes communication, law and collective life possible, rather than as a mere instrument of representation.
