Chapter | Mario Vitti studioso di Andreas Kalvos
Abstract
Mario Vitti’s lifelong interest in Andreas Kalvos materialized not only in numerous critical contributions (on the odes and tragedies) but also in the publication of valuable unpublished texts by the Zantiote poet. Notable among these are the youthful Frammento from the Archiginnasio Library (Bologna) and the Italian translation of the Idylls by Giovanni Meli (originally written in literary Sicilian dialect). Vitti’s research on Kalvos’ correspondence is also noteworthy, providing essential insights into several significant stages of the poet’s biography.
