5 • Tsong-kha-pa and Mi-pham: A Multidimensional Controversy
Abstract
This chapter explores a major controversy within the Tibetan discourse on rang rig, centered on the contrasting positions of Tsong-kha-pa Blo bzang grags pa and Mi pham rNam rgyal rgya mtsho. Their divergent views engage both the epistemological and ontological dimensions of self-awareness, intersecting with the doctrine of the two truths. The analysis offers a lens through which to understand key developments in Tibetan philosophical thought.
