Zone di sacrificio: un’esplorazione concettuale

Abstract

The concept of sacrifice zone relates inequality to places and to the intermingling of economic and ecological aspects. After dealing with the genealogy of the notion some key issues are addressed: the relationship between what happens in sacrifice zones and the notions of sacred and sacrifice; the connection between the territorial connotation of the concept and the ecological permeability of the boundaries that delimit sacrifice zones; the usefulness of applying the concept of class, possibly in a reformulated guise; and how to distinguish between sacrifice zones and other ‘geolocated’ inequalities.
