Research Article | Ciceronian Elements in Virgil: The Incipit of the First Bucolic
Abstract
The article aims to highlight the presence of several Ciceronian elements in the first verse of Virgil’s first bucolic. These are lexical, thematic and phonic references, which hardly seem random. Virgil therefore shows a careful reading of Cicero’s works both in prose and poetry, with intentional allusions, and a literary and spiritual closeness to him.
