Ancora sulla datazione delle novelle di Lorenzo de’ Medici

Abstract

The contribution presents some new elements on the dating of the two short stories by Lorenzo de’ Medici, based on a careful examination of the autographs. It is shown that the Giacoppo must be earlier, even if slightly, than the Ginevra, and this one must be placed between November and December 1469. It also dwells on what was considered an alternative ending of the Giacoppo, showing that it is instead a variant of a single paragraph of the ‘novella’. Finally, an amendment of an abbreviated written term, from perdenti to prudenti, is proposed.
