Abstract
The essays collected in this volume constitute an ideal dialogue with Luigi Mariucci’s thought, a fertile and passionate author, who right up to the end looked at labour law as a window on the big world, an instrument of emancipation and social justice: objectives to which Mariucci made an important contribution both as a scholar and as a politician, in a rich and restless intellectual journey that was never satisfied. The ‘dialogues’ we present are actually analyses that look at what has remained alive in Mariucci’s thought and can be further discussed and thematised, delivering to the generations of young scholars – to whom Mariucci always looked with sympathy and interest – a rich harvest of ideas and projects on labour law and its social function. What emerges from these writings is above all the political sphere experienced by the author as a systemic ribbon that enters into every aspect of law, from trade union relations to labour relations issues up to epochal challenges (globalisation, climate crisis) in which the capitalist illusion of ‘infinite growth on a finite planet’ vanishes, and a space is reopened for the construction of alternatives.
