Abstract
This chapter presents the corpus of images collected and analysed during the Biblissima project, giving an overview of iconographic databases and their role in Digital Iconography. It then focuses on the categories and methodology of the Warburg Institute iconographic database, which hosts the collection of images. Finally, it discusses the role of early modern matrices as material tools and key narrators of the artistic process of printing illustrations, considering the latest digital developments for the study of this material.
