Decree of the Demos of Halai Aixonides for the Priest Polystratos and Other Well-Wishers
Abstract
The decree, inscribed on the cult table found in the sanctuary of Apollo Zoster, in the Attic deme of Halai Aixonides, is dated between 360‑350 BCE and grants honours to the priest Polystratos, son of Charmantides of Halai, and to a group of four other demesmen, those selected (hairethentes) to assist him in the care of the sanctuary. The document provides interesting information about the cult personnel and the ritual practices.
