Decree for the Restoration of a Proxeny Decree Destroyed by the Thirty
Abstract
The stele records a decree of the Athenian boulé ordering the republication of the proxenia granted to the five sons of Apemantos, since the previous stele had been destroyed by the Thirty (404/3 BC). The request was advanced by one son, Eurypilos, who was assigned the expenses and an invitation to the Prytaneion. Through comparison with other epigraphic evidence concerning Apemantos and his sons, it is also possible to reconstruct the family’s lasting political commitment within the democratic and pro‑Athenian faction of Thasos.
