Capitolo | Le Orestee espanse del nuovo millennio: Antonio Latella, Anagoor, Jan Fabre
Abstract
The first decades of the new millennium have witnessed a new and radical re-emergence of Oresteia on the scene: Mount Olympus: To Glorify the Cult of Tragedy, by Jan Fabre (2015), Santa Estasi, directed by Antonio Latella (2018), Orestea by Anagoor (2018) are not merely works by new directors, or re-adaptations, but rather new projects addressing the very idea of trilogy and questioning the possibility of its reactualisation. All the three projects have expanded the script and are all extremely long (respectively 5, 19, 24 hours). The three productions, which force the audience to share the same space, produce a small and irregular community experience, and explore the tragedy’s potential to aggregate people in our contemporary world.
