Abstract

Tibet’s shifting posture toward Britain and the Chinese Republic, as observed by Fazun in the mid-1930s. Neither full alignment nor outright refusal: a policy of watchful distance. Fazun’s analysis is frank, and at times pointed, about the failures of Chinese governance in the region.
