Oinochoe of the Dipylon

Abstract
The inscription carved on the oinochoe of the Dypylon represents the most ancient occurrence of Greek alphabet found in Attica and one of the first examples of written poetry. Its solemn metre is used to announce the prize for the victory of a dance agon: the vase itself.
