Abstract
This article reviews the reading of the variant ‘duende casa’ that appears in an eclogue inserted in Luis Gálvez de Montalvo’s Spanish pastoral romance El pastor de Fílida (Valencia, 2006). It also amends such reading for future editions of this work from ‘duende casa’ to ‘duen de casa’. A historical and philological study of this syntagm from the mid-fifteenth century to the end of the sixteenth century is developed to justify such amendment. Finally, the meaning of ‘tesoro de duende’ (Hobgoblin’s Treasure) is explained within the context of the poem in which the variant is found.
