Abstract
This essay presents some unpublished letters Claudio Guillén wrote to his admired Pablo Salinas between 1950 and 1951: four of them were sent from Cambridge (Massachusetts), two from Cologne, where Claudio Guillén was working as a language assistant, and the last incomplete letter does not include a return address. In this private correspondence, Claudio Guillén, in addition to give biographical information about himself and other important Spanish scholars and writers, also speculates about the difficult political situation the world was facing at the time.
