Abstract
Although Catalan literature lacks an explicit discourse on the economic crisis, this does not mean that the crisis has not impacted both the dynamics of the literary system and the corpus of texts published since 2008. This chapter reflects on the triangulation between three concepts: the house – a space heavily connoted in the era of mortgages and evictions; the threshold – the transitional space between the home (private) and the outside world (public); and the street – a site of struggle in the Catalonia of the Procés. The concept of home is central in many novels that privatize the crisis, while the homeless who occupy its thresholds prompt the author to explore other literary and cultural expressions that exist on the margins of the canon.
