Abstract

Tibet’s economy as Fazun witnessed it: barley harvests, wool exports, tea traders, gold mines, and the salt lakes of the north. The chapter also maps the overland routes connecting Lhasa to India, China, and the borderlands, and notes the growing British presence along them.
