Le territoire thasien à l’époque archaïque: chronologie et envergure en question
Abstract
This paper offers an overview of the Thasian territory’s occupation and exploitation between the end of the Early Iron Age and the beginning of the Archaic period. It questions preconceived ideas about the Parian colonists having conquered the whole island already at Archilochos’ time, in the second quarter of the 7th c. BC. Archaeological data about the Early Iron Age and the Archaic period allow us to state that the colonists did not arrive on wasted land: they met well established settlements and were not mastering the South-Western part of the island in the beginning of the Archaic period.
