Research Article | Prayer for Justice di Kollyra
Abstract
Prayer for justice inscribed on a bronze tablet and dedicated by a woman, Kollyra, who has been embezzled of a cloak and three gold coins. Kollyra consecrates the stolen goods to the propoloi of a goddess with an unspecified name and demands that the two culprits be cursed until they have made substantial dedications to the goddess. The aim of this contribution is to provide an integration of line 4 of the text and an examination of the identity and role of the propoloi recipients of the consecration and of the deity invoked in the inscription, as well as to reinterpret the text against the background of the epigraphic genre of prayers for justice.
