Le lingue di Ruzante in scena dal Novecento a oggi
Abstract
The essay examines the reception of the languages of the playwright Angelo Beolco, known as Ruzante, in modern theatrical productions (from 1902 to the present). Firstly, it focuses on performances staged in Italy, identifying four main linguistic approaches (translation into modern Italian; preservation of the original text; transposition into a modern Venetian dialect or into one of the other Italian dialects). Then, it considers productions staged abroad by foreign directors (France, Germany, England), with particular attention to translation choices.
