La traduction de la poésie de Gao Xingjian en français
Traduction, interprétation, création
abstract
The long poem Ballade nocturne was written directly in French by Gao Xingjian, who had been living in France for many years at the time. It was later translated from French into English by Claire Conceison and finally translated into Chinese by Gao Xingjian himself. A comparison between these three versions reveals how Ballade nocturne undergoes a transformation from one language to another, producing three different texts. Under such circumstances, how can one tell whether Gao Xingjian is a French writer translated into English or a Chinese writer who translates his own texts into Chinese? Translation thus becomes interpretation and even a form of creation carried out not only by the author, but by the translator as well.
