Abstract
This paper focuses on training student teachers of language in the face of issues of diversity, intercultural encounters and Educational Linguistic and emphasises the importance of the quality of teacher education for rethinking intercultural education practices. In order to prepare teachers to operate in classrooms characterised by heterogeneity and cultural plurality, we propose an approach aimed at creating linguistic and cultural awareness on the basis of films that tell the reality of juvenile detention. Teaching Italian with these films and using reflective diaries can aid in cultivating learners’ imagination and empathy.
