Abstract

This paper proposes an anthropological exploration of road imaginaries, an emerging product of historical, political and cultural processes within national states. The anthropological perspective assumes that all road events, whether they involve pedestrians or drivers of different vehicles, as well as the existential sense of road spaces, the intervening actors and their situations and even accidents, can be understood within a complex sociocultural framework. This conceptual proposal provides some tools for the anthropological study of this sociocultural fabric represented by road events.
